(Read Acts 13:26-33, Psalm 2 and John 14:1-6)

“Let not your hearts be troubled; believe in God, believe also in me… I am the way, and the truth, and the life” (John 14:1-6).

Today, Jesus beautifully assures us: “let not your hearts be troubled.” How? We may ask. Jesus says: “Believe in God, believe also in me.” So long as we are still on earth, there would always be something to make us worried.

Being worried is not a reflex action, it is simply how we choose to react to the events of our lives. When we worry, we attempt to use our minds to control our world but it never works; it doesn’t change anything. We have the power to decide not to worry no matter what is going on.

“In my Father’s house are many rooms.” With this statement, Jesus seeks to draw our attention away from this world; to make us think of heaven itself. In truth, none of our problems (the things that worry us now) will be relevant in heaven.

Jesus has already gone to prepare a place of rest and peace for us. We cannot live forever on earth. We are only pilgrims here. Pray, do what you can and leave the worrying for God. Having committed a problem in God’s hands, you are not permitted to take it back and allow it to torment your mind. God is capable.

Consider what St. Paul is saying in today’s first reading. Jesus Christ was persecuted by a people he came to save. Even though they did not recognise Jesus as the long-awaited Messiah, they helped bring to fulfilment all the prophecies concerning Jesus. The people who killed Jesus did not even know they were helping to prove His authenticity as the Messiah.

Think of it this way: those people making life difficult for you now may just be helping to bring out the best in you. Thomas wanted to be very sure so he asked for the way. And Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth and the life.” Follow Jesus. He is the way. Believe Jesus. He is the truth. Worship Jesus. He is Life.

Let us pray: Lord Jesus, increase my faith and cast away my fears and worries. Amen.

Be Happy. Live Positive. Have Faith. It is well with you. God bless you. (Friday of the 4th Week of Easter. Bible Study: Acts 13:26-33, Psalm 2 and John 14:1-6).
