Who is a Christian? St. Paul answers in today’s first reading: A person blessed with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places; chosen in Christ to be holy and blameless; destined in love to be united to God in the fullness of time. A Christian is different, not like everybody else. A Christian is chosen for holiness, to shine a light – to give the world an example.

Jesus tells us today to aim for perfection because we serve a perfect God. Of course, children must resemble their father. Since God is perfect, we who claim to be His children must reflect God’s perfection in us.
