DAILY HOMILIES #World Mission Sunday

The Central Message of Pope Leo XIV. The message of Pope Leo XIV for World Mission Sunday 2026 can be summarised in one powerful statement: “Our unity in Christ strengthens our mission, and our mission is to make God’s love known to the whole world.” The Holy Father reminds us that unity is the foundation of mission, cooperation is its strength, and love is its essence. As we celebrate the 100th World Mission Sunday, every baptised Christian is invited to become an active missionary disciple, proclaiming Christ not only through words but especially through a life of faith, unity, service, and love.

Today’s first reading warns against the “Jonah complex”—the reluctance, prejudice, or anger that can make us unwilling to share the Good News with certain groups or “enemies.” We must have God’s heart for the whole world. Similarly, Today’s responsorial psalm provides the ultimate goal of the mission, which is to ensure that the entire earth sees and praises God for His saving work.
