Until we begin to tell ourselves the truth about sin, that its only reward is death, that sin ultimately deprives us of the true pleasures of life, it would remain a great challenge to us.

You can always determine who will be your Master and you can only have one Master. If you desire to be free from slavery to sin, you must subject yourself completely to God.

For Jesus, it is better for a stone to be tied to your neck and you be thrown into the river than to lead one of these little ones astray. A single sin, a single bad example can affect thousands of people around you and even the next generation.

The life of Luke teaches us a very important lesson: You don’t have to be ordained/professed as a Priest or Reverend Sister neither must you open a church before you can do the work of God. Right where you are, you can make even more significant contributions to the Christian Faith than many ordained ministers.

Once upon a time, a popular musician sang: “We all want to go to heaven, but nobody wants to die.” To a large extent, this statement sums up our liturgy today. It is a good thing to desire heaven but the question is: “How many of us are willing to pay the price for it?”

When your life proclaims God, you have nothing to fear as Jesus promises us: “When they bring you before synagogues and the rulers and the authorities, do not be anxious how or what you are to answer or what you are to say; for the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you ought to say.” (Luke 12:11-12).

The key to avoiding secret sins is deepening our fear of God; consciously reminding ourselves that God is the only one that deserves our fear since he can not only kill the body but has the power to cast us into hell fire

St. Paul is not saying we should glory in our sinfulness. His point of emphasis is that we must avoid boasting, we must avoid feeling superior to others, we must avoid looking down on others.

Even a lawyer who tried to prove his innocence while Jesus was speaking was not spared. This implies that no one is exempt from this false show of religiosity.

Have I denied God’s existence by displaying holiness in public only to fall back to evil in secret? Have I denied God’s existence by engaging in immoral behaviours such as those St. Paul describes in our first reading?

This is THE SIGN; that Jesus died and rose from the dead by Himself. This is the ultimate miracle. If we are not convinced by the resurrection of Jesus, nothing else can convince us

Reduce the time you spend on entertainment every day. Read books. Read good books. Try to finish one book every single week (or 1 month at least). Invest in wisdom. Be committed to self-improvement in everything you do. No need to pursue money, you can never catch it. Pursue wisdom and money will pursue you with speed and velocity.
