Choose Wisely

Most of us Christians today only pretend that we love God. We worship God just for the benefits we gain from God. We are like one who marries a person because he/she is rich. When the money is no more, they leave! If you truly love someone, you would sacrifice everything for that person. No wonder, in today’s Gospel passage, we hear Jesus saying to us, “If any man would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.” (Luke 9:23)

Dare to be Different: Stand out Like Noah

n the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus basically told us that as Christians, we are called to be the Noah’s of this world when He said: “You are the salt of the earth… (and) You are the light of the world.” (Matthew 5:13-14). When Jesus was hungry, Satan asked him to turn stones to bread. When you are broke, Satan will tempt you with money. Satan always tries to take advantage of our wants, tastes and expectations.

Bone of my Bones and flesh of my Flesh

The second account of creation attests to the fact that there is nothing in this world that can satisfy our heart as much as the love we feel for our fellow human beings. Just as Adam was unhappy until he met Eve, the Syrophoenician woman in our Gospel passage was restless so long as her daughter was under the possession of unclean spirits

Examine Your Customs and Traditions

I can only imagine that many years after this coronavirus saga, many would still be arrested and molested (treated as grave sinners) for not wearing facemasks in public. It is so easy for humans to begin a tradition but once its original purpose has been served or if it takes too long, it can become extremely difficult or impossible to stop it.

Bring Jesus Home, call Him in Moments of Sickness

Somehow, we tend to shut Jesus out of our homes, we refuse to allow him to enter our space. The moment we leave the church premises and return home, we pull off our Christianity along with our Church attire and change into something else; we begin to behave like strangers to the faith.
